Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DRIVERS employed by Liverpool-based George Davies & Son returned to work last Friday after a four-day strike over redundancies.

The firm planned to axe the jobs of 23 of the 64 drivers. The men walked out and picketed the depot and the premises of a number of Davies' customers. This extended to the Aintree Containerbase where container movements were badly disrupted.

The Containerbase, which was not directly involved in the dispute was planning to seek a High Court injunction to end the picketing, which was having a serious effect on the firm and its customers.

The men accepted a peace formula put forward by the firm, but details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Davies blamed the redundancies on a decline in port-related work.
