MR. DAVID E, BURTON has taken charge of the London technical sales department of Rocol, Ltd.

MR. ARNOLD FORSTER, head of J. D. Forster and Sons, hauliers, Cramlington (Northumberland), has retired.

MR. M. H. SAYERS has been appointed apprentice training manager of F. Perkins, Ltd., succeeding MR, J. TALBOT, who is taking up an appointment outside the company. Mr. Sayers joined Perkins last year after 30 years in the Royal Navy.

MR. L. S. HIGGINS, assistant traffic manager of the East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd., has been appointed to a similar post with Maidstone and District 'Motor Services, Ltd. He succeeds MR. D. G. F. RAWLINSON, who recently became traffic manager of East Midland Motar Services, Ltd.

MR. A. E. PARFREY has been appointed home sales manager of Raybestos-Belaco, Ltd, MR, K. E. MARCHANT becomes manager of the home sales department and MR. W. H. GRAY becomes southern region sales manager. These appointments follow the resignation of MR. D. A. NEwmaN.

MR. B. E, RICHMOND has relinquished his position as general factory manager of Tecalemit, Ltd., to enable him to concentrate his activities as managing director of Foamite, Ltd., an associated company. He is succeeded at Tecatemit by MR. J. E. DRINKWATER, previously deputy general factory manager. Mr. Richmond has returned from a tour of the U.S.A. where he investigated firefighting equipment. MR. H. E. JACKSON, chief development engineer, has become chief engineer.

MR. J. W. HEATHCOTE, purchasing manager of Ferodo, Ltd., has retired after 34 years' service. He is succeeded by MR. J. HOLDGATE.

MR. NORMAN ' DICKSON, field sales manager of the Clayton Dewandre Co., Ltd., will in future be engaged on special assignments for MR. S. J. BARNES, director and general manager. He will be succeeded by MR. K. A. SMITH and MR. B. T. GEORGE, assistant sales managers.

MR, J. A. BADHAM has moved from Munn and Underwood, Ltd., Southsea, to become retail sales manager of Wadhams, Ltd., Waterlooville. MR, L. DUEEET has transferred from Waterlooville to become assistant retail sales manager at Palmerston Road, Southsea. MR. J. FOSTER, has transferred from Southampton to become Woking branch manager of Haslemere Motor Co., Ltd.

MR. J. H. GENT, sales manager of Tyresoles, Ltd., has assumed responsibility for the company's sales policy in all fields. MR. A. W. Pritious£ will concentrate on the requirements of national fleet operators, nationalized undertakings and Government departments. MR. C. S. M ILES-THOMAS has been appointed southern sales promotion manager, and his counterpart in the north will be MR. W. F. ALLPORT.

MOBILE SHOPS CONCERN

THEScottish Secretary of State said last week that he had received representations from East Kilbride Trades Association and the Scottish Council of Tenants on the operation of mobile shops on municipal housing estates, and in new towns, where adequate shopping facilities were stated already to exist.

He was not satisfied, however, that action on his part was needed, but had offered the organizations an opportunity to supplement their representations.

An American development in this field was illustrated in last week's issue. Portolite tanks, which cost about £150 each, will be more fully described next week.

£25 FINES ON HAULIER

FOR using a lorry without an Excise licence, John Thomas Wilberforce, haulier, Ganstead Lane, Bilton, was fined 120 at South Hunsley Beaton (Yorks) last week. • He was fined a further £5 for not having two mirrors on the vehicle.

FARES DEPUTATION

BECAUSE they consider day returns on electric trains serving nine local stations are "unfairly low," Southport Transport Committee are hoping to send a deputation to the Ministry of Transport.
