• BOC is evaluating a pair of ERF Elf) 27ST drawbar outfits, one with full aerodynamic cladding, the other with just a standard headboard, on its Storeshield, Cumbernauld-Inverness service.
Both Don-Bur-bodied rigs are built to give 16m of floor length. The shutters at each end of the centre-axled trailers give through Loading.
So far the streamlined outfit is using 0.8mpg less fuel on mixed running than the standard rig, which should justify BOC's intention to buy up to five more similar drawbars this year and around 30 in all.
