A FIER agreeing to certain amendments concerning normal user, the South Eastern Licensing Authority, Maj.Gen. A. F. J. Elmslie. at Eastbourne last week, granted Bakers Transport (Southampton) Ltd. four 1 It-ton atriculated/independent trailers in substitution for lighter trailers that the company operated. Bakers' original applications were for three trailers in substitution and three additional trailers.
Pickforcls Ltd. and Hill and Sons (Botley and Denmead) Ltd. were the principal objectors.
After a prolonged discussion between the parties on the second day's hearing, Bakers agreed to meet restrictions
suggested by Pickfords that the trailers in drawbar form were to be used only . for the Pirelli Group; that in articulated form the trailers were to be used prin.cipally for Pirelli; that they, were not to be used in tandem or twin form, and that a further applicationi for four heavier trailers which was published io Applications and Decisions dated May 5, would be withdrawn.
Bakers also agreed to meet restrictions suggested by the other objectors in respect of loads carried for other customers.
Subject to these amendments, the applications, in respect of four trailers, were granted.
