unladen weight are claimed for the plastic cab and wing construction developed by A. C. Penman, Ltd., Queens bury Motor Works, Dumfries. The cold-setting plastics used have shown no signs of deterioration during service over the last 18 months, but their strength and stability have been amply demonstrated.
Woven glass fabric is the raw material employed, and although its expense prevents widespread production at the present time, its advantages include increased resistance to fire, chemicals and insects.
Complete lightweight cabs can be produced. A 61-lb. flexible front-wing unit has already been made for the Albion Chieftain. Extended use of plastics is visualized, subject to reduced raw material prices.
