MR. G. FISHER has succeeded MR. E. BROWN as president of the Sheffield Motor Trades Council.

MR. J. M. HAMILTON, assistant to the bus maintenance engineer of the New South Wales Department of Government Transport, recently spent a number of weeks at the factory of Clayton Dewandre Co., Ltd. Mr. Hamilton, who was awarded the 1953 Manville Fellowship by the Institution

of Mechanical Engineers for his paper on "Current Practices and Problems in Public Service Vehicle Braking Systems," is in the United Kingdom for nine months.

MR. S. H. EDGE, chief engineer and assistant general manager of Clayton Dewandre Co., Ltd., has completed an extensive tour of the United States, where he visited the Bendix Organization with whom the company are associated. He was accompanied by MR. G. A. JEFFREY, assistant chief draughtsman.

MR_ H. A. DAvIs has retired from his position as manager of the motor group of Brown Brothers. Ltd., and has been succeeded by MR. ROBERT C. TURNER, formerly assistant general manager. Mr. Davis, who was due to retire from the company this year after 51 years' service, has been requested to remain for a further period to undertake special duties. Mr. Turner joined Brown Brothers in 1946, was appointed manager of their Acton branch four years later, and returned to head office last year.

SIR MARK HODGSON has been appointed chairman of the North Eastern Transport Users' Consultative Committee by the Minister of Transport. The committee, whose first term of office ended on March 31, has MR. F. L. HICK as their secretary. Other members are: MR. R. H. BULMER, MR. K. HARPER, MR. A. R. POLSON, MR. J. E. PEACOCK, MR. S. J.
