• Transport Development Group has extended its parcels carrying business with the acquisition of the distribution arm of GEC — GEC Road Services — and District Parcels Carriers of Bury.
GEC Road Services will operate under the name of TPE Road Services with its current general manager, Ian Sales, remaining in that post and David Allen, man aging director of Independent Express, taking over as TPE's managing director.
The head office will still be at Bourne End, Bucks.
Other depots will be sited in Bristol, Stafford, Manchester and Glasgow.
