EXPENDITURE by local authorities on school transport has increased over the past five years from £20m to £45m, Mr Ernest Armstrong, Under-Secretary for Education, told the Corn mons. Mr Armstrong, who was once again answering questions about plans to help school transport,, said be hoped to be able to make a statement in the near future.
