J. W. Tweedie has been appointed general manager of Scottish Omnibuses Ltd.: G. D. Ramsay becomes g.m. of Western SMT Co. Ltd.: and A. M. Newman g.m. of Central SMT Co. Ltd Mr. Tweedie succeeds R. Mackenzie who was recently appointed executive director of the Scottish Bus Group. At present commercial manager of the Group, Mr. Tweedie was previously traffic manager of W. Alexander and Sons (Midland) Ltd., Mr. Ramsay has been traffic manager, Western SMT. since 1959and Mr. Newman returns J. Delicate has been elected chairman of the FTA's User Committee lit deals with all matters affecting trade arid industry as freight transport users): E. J. Frogley is vice-chairman. Mr. Delicate is group transport adviser at Courtaulds and Mr. Frogley is joint head of transport division at Unilever.
B. W. Dean has been elected chairman of the RHA's Halifax sub-area; R. V. Cresswell and L. Holroyd join him on the area committee. Mr. Dean and Mr. Holroyd were also elected to the tipping vehicle group; Mr. Cresswell and W. Whalley to the longdistance group.
C. A. Priestly, 40, has joined Blox Services Ltd.. as sales development executive. Mr. Priestly, who retired recently from the Army as a major, is primarily responsible for promoting the Blox contract hire service for corn mercial vehicles.
W. R. Swinbank has been appointed fleet sales manager of Taskers Trailers Ltd.; I. J. McIntosh becomes home sales manager: L. A. Piper sales engineer. to Motherwell which he left in 1967 to take over as g.m. at Alexanders (Northern), Aberdeen. A. Campbell, appointed SBG finance officer, entered the transport industry when he succeeded Wm. Ritchie as secretary of Central SMT in 1962. J. V. Little has been appointed assistant chief engineer of Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. Mr. Little is at present assistant engineer with Thames Valley Traction Co.
D. G. F. Rawlinson, 49. general manager of East Midland Motor Services Ltd. since 1964, has been appointed g.m. of United Automobile Services Ltd. from May 1 on the retirement of B.T. Pratt.
A. J. Câ– emc has been appointed director and general manager of Atkey's of Nottingham and Uttoxeter. Mr. Clemo joins Atkey's from the Ronald Sewell Organisation, where he has been senior executive director for 14 months.
Michael Butcher, manager of the Rootes parts express delivery scheme operated from Birmingham by Rootes Motors and Morton's (B RS) Ltd., has been transferred to the Morton's group's Coventry HQ to take up a new post_ Mr. Butcher is now responsible for all projects between Rootes Motors and Morton's (BRS) Ltd His second-in-command at Birmingham. Philip Brantley, becomes manager of the pans service under the reorganization. W. Niven has been appointed northern region sales manager of J. Payen Ltd. and Halls Gaskets Ltd. J. G. Anderson takes over the eastern region and W. A. Shotten the western.
R. W. Thornton has been elected chairman of the Industrial Transport Association's Forth division: G. L. Steele is vice-chairman; A. M. Raeside secretary; R. J. Gibbins assistant secretary: J. M cKillop treasurer; R. G. Torrance, J. L. A. Morris, A. H. Bremner, H. B. Aitken, B. J. C. Swinbum, M. W. Jones committee. Mr. Thornton, Mr. Raeside, and J. P. B. Sherriff, Deputy Editor of CM, are representatives to the national council.
V. J. Owen, at present chief engineer of Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd., at Derby has been appointed chief engineer of Maidstone and District Motor Services Ltd., in succession to P. C. Wickens who leaves at the end of March to become a technical executive with United Transport (Overseas) Ltd. Mr. Owen takes up his new appointment on May 1.
L. Pritchard has been elected chairman of the FrA's West Wales area: W. T. Owen is vicechairman, Other elections—Scottish Highland: J. Row chairman; Aberdeen: N. F. Buchanan chairman, R. Philip vice-chairman; West Cumberland: T. A. Routledge chairman. K. Dodsworth vice-chairman: Carlisle: P. L. Kemp chairman. G. Wilson vice-chairman.
R. H. (Bob) Odams has joined the board of Carflow Ltd., becoming London fleet sales director. Mr. Odams was formerly fleet sales manager with Shaw and Kilbum Ltd.
D. V. Cootes-Preedy has been appointed export marketing manager by the Automotive Products Group. In this newly created post Mr. CootesPreedy will concentrate initially on developing business for AP's new Mark III Automatic Transmission in Europe. He joins the Group from Jaguar Cars Ltd.
Jack Wood, 60, who has been with the North Western Region of the Transport and General Workers' Union for 25 years, is to retire from his position as regional group secretary of commercial transport services section at the end of this month.
