The thesis should take account of the cost effectiveness of the system and the equipment, the effect of legislation and the consideration of driver comfort. It should examine the possible location of after-sales service points, credit facilities, and rationalisation of models. Operationally it should cover road/rail; cross channel; draw bar; skeletals; _ double-Joottom and rigid vehicle application.
Consideration should be given to harmonisation of legislation in Europe arid the development of the infrastructure by EEC .states together with the likely effects ot a Channel tunnel.
Entrants should be employed in the transport industry in an operational or engineering role ,or be students preparing for a graduafe or postgraduate course in transport studies or hold corporate membership of the Chartered Institute of Transport or the Institute of Road Transport Engineers or the appropriate body in their own country.
