ANOTHER new market for double-deck buses has been opened up in the Far East by Leyland Vehicles and Walter Alexander (Coachbuilders) Ltd who have won an order to supply 22 buses to Manila, capital of the Philippines.
The order is for 22 Leyland AN68 Atlanteans with bodies by Alexander. The first two buses are due to be shipped complete this month and the remainder in kit form for local assembly.
The total order, which includes spare parts, is said to be worth £.1.25m. The buses will be supplied to the 4000 bus Manila fleet by Leyland local distributor Amalgamated Motors (Philippines) Ltd.
