A SECOND battery-electric bus is under development for use in the fleet of the Greater Manchester PTE. It is being designed by Lucas and is based on a Seddon Pennine IV chassis and body. The bus is the responsibility of a Lucas team led by Mr Geoff Harding, former director of the then SELNEC PTE Greater Manchester's first battery-electric bus, the Silent Rider, which was developed by Chloride using Seddon RU components, is currently being used for driver training and is expected to be in service shortly.
