Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE ARTICLE by D. Wilcox on demountable bodies in the June 30th issue which questions the legality of the Contar extending 'A' frame used on the Ray Smith close coupled drawbar, implies that the overall length might be excessive if measured when it is turning with the drawbar extended.

Reference to the definitions in Regs will show that this is an absurd situation.

To quote from the legislation, "Overall length means the length of vehicle measured between vertical planes at right angles to the longitudinal access and passing through the extreme projecting points thereof. ..."

It is obvious that the length can only be measured with the outfit in a straight line, since the longitudinal access must be a straight line dividing the outfit symmetrically.
