0 he Hawk has arrived an intriguing letter from a Mr P Ives of St Mawes in Cornwall Mr Ives would like to enlist the sleuthing skills of CM readers in tracking down a Stonefield 4x4 which would be suitable for him to restore and then present to a museum in memory of his friend and colleague Jim McKehie, who died in 1976.

Jim founded Ailsa Trucks in 1965 and it was there he created the Stonefield 4x4, a Land Rover compefitor. This will be the latest of several vehicles Mr Ives has restored since he retired 15 years aga He will not be alone, as former colleagues, designer Norman Watson, engineering director John Bryant and development manager Ron Cater have all promised their help with the restoration.

In other words, the only piece missing from the puzzle is the vehicle itself If any of you know the whereabouts of a suspect fitting the description, please contact Mr Ives at Chamnery Fair, Trelawney Road, St Mawes, Cornwall TR2 5BLL, phone 01326 270303
