a victim of truck crime. It may not get your truck or components back, but it should make life harder for the thieves attempting to use or sell your property.

Operator Mark Reddington is hoping that the registration numbers—G244 OKM, G623 FEY and J653 BCJ—etched in large letters on the tops of three cabs may lead to the recovery of his Mercedes-Benz 1735 tractive units missing since the end of November.

Respraying the white vehicles will not hide the markings, unless the whole cab is repainted in the same material used to paint the lettering, says Reddington: "And that's going to be very expensive business."

Two of the tractors were stolen from a lorry park in Essex—which Reddington refuses the name for fear of tipping off potential thieves—on 25 November, while the J-registered unit disappeared during the night of 4 January from a lorry park in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

"I think there's a ring of thieves operating in the Bromsgrove area in the Midlands," says Reddington.

G623 FEY carries the chassis number 65512225452207 and engine 44296320512703; equivalent numbers for G244 OKM are 65512225441348 and 44296320504934, and for J653 BCJ, are 65512225469259 and 44296320524724.

A E500 reward for information leading to the recovery of the vehicles is being offered.
