Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Britain's 10 million trades union affiliates may be called on to boycott Trusthouse Forte service areas, restaurants and hotels.

The Trades Union Congress has agreed in principle with the Transport & General Workers Union to back such a boycott if THF fails to settle its dispute with the TGWU over truck driver facilities at service areas such as South Mi11111TIS on London's orbital M25.

If successful, such a boycott could cripple THF by stopping deliveries of essential supplies, as well as losing its custom.

The TGWU is angered by what it alleges is discrimination against truck drivers at THF service areas. In a bid to resolve the situation, union official Dennis Mills is to have "exploratory talks" with Tony Monnickendam, managing director of THF Service Areas and other THF directors.

"I shall want to discuss the whys and wherefores of THF's policy of not allowing HGV drivers to use its services," says Mills. "There are signs on many if not all THF service areas clearly indicating that truck drivers are not allowed. I want these signs taken down," says Mills.
