Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

" HULL'S wholesale fruit trade could

absorb another 20 vehicles for long-distarice road work," stated Mr. Kenneth Dawson, former president of Hull and District Fruit Buyers' Association, last week, when Messrs. Reader Bros., Blackfriargatc, Hull, successfully applied for a licence to operate two articulated vehicles.

Mr. R. F:. Paterson, for the applicants, told the Yorkshire Licensing Authority that fruit cargoes were being diverted from Hull because of the shortage of transport. The increasing difficulties in obtaining road transport were a matter of moment to Hull.

Mr. Harold Walford, secretary of the firm, said that British Road Services formerly gave a fair amount of help, but were now apparently concentrating their efforts on trunk services. B.R.S. had hinted that they would be able to carry even less fruit in future.

RADIO FOR WORKS TRUCKS 0-WAY radio has been installed by Steels Engineering Products, Ltd.. Sunderland, on nine of their works vehicles to reduce idle time. The system has proved so successful that it is to be extended to all factory trucks.

Pyc Reporter sets were fitted to two 5-ton and two 3-ton battery-electric tractors, three Coles 6-ton mobile cranes, and two Electric Eel 30-cwt. tractors.

The control room is part of the internal progress department of the factory, where all works movements are plotted. Before radio was used, the only way of finding a vehicle was to send a man out to look for it.
