YORKS is to form a centre for the Commercial Motor Lorry Driver of the Year competition. A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Mr Graham Cresswell, road safety coordinator for South Yorks Metropolitan County Council.

A NEW COMPANY, Anglo Balkan Carriers (Forwarding) Ltd, of Felixstowe is shipping 50 vehicles a week to the Middle East and expects to increase this to 200 before the end of the year. Mr Phillips, the md, said that the company was operating through a sophisticated European network and had reduced delivery times to three weeks against the conventional deep sea time of three months.
