Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

concerning the new London Transport "satellite" standee buses. One of the failings of these buses is the absence of handrails on the right-hand side of the entrance. This applies to both the forward and rear parts of the entrance. Can you explain why these rails are missing or is everybody supposed to be left-handed?

A The lack of handrails on the right-hand side of the entrance doors is an omission for which London Transport cannot be blamed. When the first MCW-bodied AEC Merlins were built for LTB, handrails were fitted at both sides of each part of the entrance. However, the Ministry of Transport vehicle examiner who inspected these buses refused to grant a Certificate of Fitness until one of the rails was removed from the entrance doors, claiming that the space between the rails was too narrow. It is interesting to note that in removing one of the rails LTB seems to have assumed that the majority of passengers are left-handed.
