II Suzuki has introduced a van version of its 4x4 Vitara with a payload just over 300kg and a load volume of 0.83m:3. It is powered by a 79hp (59kW) 1.6litre petrol engine.

Access to the loadspace is via a single side hinged rear door; it can accommodate items up to 990mm high.

Loading height is 680nun and the maximum width of the loadbed is 1.05m.

A five-speed transmission is fitted with a two-speed transfer box giving selectable four-wheel drive. Ground clearance is 200mm.

A 2.0-litre diesel engine will be introduced in the five-door Vitara next year and could be used in the van.
