• The Snake Pass section of th. Manchester to Sheffield A57 has beei closed to heavy goods vehicles. Polic action followed the discovery of smal cracks in the 50yd stretch near Ladybowe on Monday.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Count authorities said: "We do not know how Ion the road will remain closed to lorries; i could be a matter of weeks. Meanwhile w suggest that heavy goods vehicles use A61 or A628 as alternative routes."
