A MOTOR INDUSTRY public relations campaign is being planned by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which will use the expected profits from this year's Motor Show.

The SMMT is spending £50,000 initially on detailed preparatory work over the next three months, and provided literature and other support material is suitable, £500,000 will be spent in the second half of this year.

It hopes it can fund it entirely from the profits of the Motor Show, which will occupy seven halls at the National Exhibition Centre and run from October 17 to 28. It will have "Take a trip into tomorrow" as its theme.
