Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

We have in mind a chart which would have space to insert details of all items revelant to running costs, such as speedometer readings, mileage at the beginning and end of each month, fuel consumption, oil consumed, servicing and repair costs, and recording of repairs in such a way as to satisfy the DoE in complying with the requirements for 0 licences. In addition we think such a chart should ideally have provision for the insertion of monthly standing charges.

A CM does not produce these charts but several CM publications have suggested typical and useful layouts.

On page 52 of the current issue of CM's Tables of Operating Costs there is a suggested layout for a vehicle cost sheet which includes provision for most of the items you suggest.

Also in the book 'Costing for Maximum Profit' by R. P.C. Block, published by CMthere are sample forms for vehicle repair costs, vehicle records and operating summaries. These forms are available from R. P.C. Block, 7 Brighton Road, Surbiton, Surrey.

We should point out that the cost form illustrated in the tables does not meet DoE requirements regarding vehicle maintenance records. These are an entirely different matter. Such forms have to indicate in some detail the components of vehicle which have been inspected and repaired. It would not be possible to record all this information on the same sheet as costing records.

Maintenance forms are available from a number of sources such as the ETA, the RHA, the oil companies, vehicle manufacturers and private publishers.
