Mystery of t icture in the March 31 issue showing a Seanimell Crusader parked at the Stewart and Ardern White City truck show has been -unravelled. The show was run entirely wart and Ardem who are distribu Leyland Redline and Guy 'trucks mell trailers. Hardly surprising, a Scammell tractor which was ng the show trailers wasn't under -spotlight when S & A weren't entitled t'o, sell it.

Anyway, Leyland men point out that they all work for the same organization, whether at Watford, Leyland or Bathgate. So, apparently, tallter than one man's meat being another4OisOn — it's more grist to British Leyland's mills! And the Hawk has had his wings clipped.

• Bar one

If you are a blotting-pad doodler then here's an opportunity to make yourself £50. The British Association of Removers — BAR — is running a competition to find a design for a new badge. It should be modern, meaningful and noticeable and, with a name like BAR, the mind boggles at the different themes that might be employed. One of the, conditions is that it should not look like other transport organization badges, so if you're entering go easy on the arrow motif! It will be an all-purpose badge, to be used on vehicles and letterheads. BAR point out that what they are looking for is a good idea and it need not be a professional job. Full details of the competition are available from the general secretary of the Association at 39 Victoria Street, SW1H OEF. So get doodling.

• Meat inOtei

The new Lindsey Motel (pictured right) at Smithfield Market has arrived just at the right time. Last week, when the doors of the 48-roomed centrally heated establishment were opened, Smithfield was suffering its usual congestion. Now comes the news that only vehicles loading or unloading at the meat market will be allowed in the Smithfield area. This will make the "Lindsey" almost like a country club. In fact, come to think of it, it's not unlike that already, with bars, restaurants, showers and all other mod eons. It is designed to cater for TIR and long-distance drivers. £2.50 for a single room I wouldn't m betting the management will soon thinking it is too small.

• Eurocrats

First of all the good news; this week t EEC announces that as from August green cards need not be produced citizens of Community countries w crossing Community frontiers. When first I read this I thought "th cheers for the Eurocrats", but now co the bad news. Although they don't need produce the green cards drivers will nev theless need to carry them because, s the Corrimission, it will remain an essent document testifying to the existence of t necessary insurance policy. If this is t way the transport commissioners spe their time it's little wonder that after years they are still trying to agree a commi transport policy. The punch line in t Commission's release is significant. "Su decisions bring home to ordinary peel the reality of the Community."
