ANEW ON of mechanical shoveling just been introducedthy the Chaseside Motor Co., Ltd., of Cambridge Road, Erifield,;, Middlesex, being intended to replace the maker's K Vattern. The new model is designed With a view to reducing man-handling as much as possible, and it is easier for the driver to manipulate than was the previous The capacity of the bucket is cubic yard, and it has a working output of 30 tons per hour. , A , chain-driven winch raises the bucket, after it has been filled, by running the tractor into the load ; the lift is 1 ft. higher than with the model K. Compound levers are to be fitted on this and future models in order to reduce the strain on the driver and to facilitate easy operation, but these are not shown in the accompanying, illustration, as this particular machine is the first made. On its return the bucket is held by means of a catch without the assistance of the driver.
The Fordson tractor.. is a standard unit produced by the Ford Motor Co., Ltd. at Cork, Ireland, and the new shovel attachment 'which is illustrated is the design of Mr. G. W. Jacobs, who also designed the Supaphord four-speed gearbox.
