Arrangement that will see its unsecured creditors paid 38p in the pound on debts of about £2.1m. The arrangement, which the firm said was approved by more than 99% of creditors at a meeting on 5 September, safeguards the jobs of 175 staff in seven depots. Company chairman David Price said: “It’s not an ideal situation but we’ve done what we said we’d do.”
Former Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles MD Ian Jones has become a non-executive director at Stroud, Gloucestershire-based distribution firm Howard Tenens. Howard Tenens chief executive, Peter Morris, said: “Ian’s breadth of experience in the global CV industry will add significant value to Howard Tenens.” Volvo Trucks MD for the UK and Ireland Göran Nyberg is leaving his role as UK head of the Swedish truck manufacturer after being appointed president of Volvo Trucks North American sales and marketing. He will be succeeded by Ulf Magnusson, vice-president of Volvo Region East, who will take up the role on 1 October following numerous positions in Volvo Trucks’ retail business.
Turners (Soham) has bought its second business in as many weeks. Browns Chilled Distribution, based in Biker near Spalding, is a £35m turnover business specialising in the temperature controlled distribution of chilled products. Turners recently acquired Walker Transport Services.
