ANT three-wheel manufe turer, BTB Engineering Li has thrown a new light on tl problems surrounding Nor Bedfordshire Borough Cou cil's fleet of three-wheele (CM September 6).

The council claims that five its Ant vehicles have turned cm, since 1977. But BTB says that the 1000 vehicles it has so only seven have turned over five of these belonging to Noi Bedfordshire. Of the latest in dent, where one of the counci vehicles turned over on a crici. pitch, BTB's managing direct Robin Bendall said he is "high suspicious."

The vehicle allegedly turn over when travelling at tht mph and there is now sot doubt as to whether there se% any air in its front tyre. After ing on its side for ten minuti the vehicle's fuel tank blew and it was later found that thE was no sealer gasket at the t of the tank.

BTB is currently inspecting t vehicle, which has a bent chi sis. The vehicle's SLJ carburet. has not yet been found, and t tyres have gone back to Miche for inspection.

Robin Bendall says that one the council's vehicles turn over because it was being driv too fast by an untrained a inexperienced driver, "T council employs some peof on job creation schemes and times vehicles are being us like dodgem cars," he claimE While he said it is too early condemn the maintenan procedures of the council, I Bendall said that there is "serious maintenance prc lem."
