Officers of the Civil Service are always being urged to break through red tape. Now I have seen an example with my own eyes. When the South Wales Licensing Authority opened the new BRS driver training school he drove a BRS artic into the company's yard at Bridgend and severed the tape stretched across the entrance with the GuyDyson outfit.
It may have been a novel substitute for golden scissors, but it could have caused problems. The principal guest at such ceremonies is usually presented with the opening scissors or a key. Mr Jackson was equal to the occasion: he assured his hosts that he was having his garage suitably extended.
