Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Albion Motors, Cylinder, Bore

-rsrtl recently inspected a pair of Seammell cylinders, one bore of which ;tad been very neatly repaired by the New Welding Co. (Southern), Ltd., 26, Rosebery Avenue, London, E.C.1. Normally, if by some means or other a hole is accidentally made in a cylinder, the water jacket is Cut away over the spot, the hole filled up, the water jacket welded and any excess metal ground away from the cylinder bore.

In this case, however, the hole took the form of a long crack extending into the water space between the two cylinders of the block, so the hole was tilled up as neatly as possible with welding metal, the whole bore ground out to in. oversize and a sleeve, having a lip, forced into the cylinder, the cylinder, of course, being ground out at the base to suit the lip. The sleeve was finally ground out to the correct size of the cylinder, thus leaving the sleeve with an approximate thickness of

Such a method as this is particularly applicable to the cylinders of vehicles in large fleets, as then standard sleeves can be obtained more cheaply. Such sleeves may easily save a big expense, as otherwise, through one bore of a large block being damaged or showing blowholes after use, the whole block

might have to be scrapped. Scored bores can easily be repaired in the usual New Welding way.

The New Albion Model.

Considerable interest has been displayed in the new 4-ton forward control-type Albion chassis which was recently introduced, and the Albioa Motor Car Co.; Ltd., tells us that it has recently received many orders from various parts of the country for this model. Amongst these are one for tipping. wagons from Messrs, J. W. Bulmer, of Leeds, and another for a tank wagon from the Mice PetroleumCo., Ltd., whilst two chassis have been ordered by an Australian concern. It may be recalled that this chassis, in spite of its lese overall length of 9 ft. 10 ins, and its short wheelbase of 11 ft., carries a body 13 ft. 6 ins. long.

A Useful Garage Appliance.

One of the most recent additions to the range if garage equipment of Mann, Egerton and Co., Ltd., 5, Prince of Wales Road, Norwich, is a universal chassis truck, which forms a perfectly rigid support for the undo:frame of a vehicle from which the rear axle, front axle or wheels are being removed. It is mounted on four large unbreakable wheels, so that it is possible to move the vehicle to any desired position after it has beenf placed on the truck.

As can be seen from our illustration, the truck is adjustable both laterally and vertically, so that a chassis of any height or width can be accommodated. The jaws of the truck can also be adlasted to to euit any width of chassis sidemember.

Vickers, Ltd„ informs us that it has received a contract for the construction of four 28-seater bus bodies for Albion chassis to the order of the Metropolitan Railway Co.
