• Carlsberg-Tetley has gained extra productivity with its drinks retail distribution fleet following the addition of eight Scania/Abel 18m swap-bodied drawbar outfits.
The move followed the uplift in UK drawbar gross weights to 38 tonnes and has brought the Leeds-based brewer considerable savings.
The 7.6m bodies can be exchanged quickly using the full air suspension of the 6x2 Scania P112 and Abel centre bogie trailer. Each truck will he working either with a trailer in drawbar form or running solo as a multidrop dray.
Offloading of kegs is eased and speeded up using a portable electrically-powered Lucas Swinglift, for which mounting lugs are provided in each swap body.
