• The second open day at the Vehicle Inspectorate's training department attracted 90 delegates from the truck and PCV industry and the police.
Those attending were able to see demonstrations of smoke testing and go down the pits with an instructor and examine a vehicle. All the normal training displays on air braking systems, wheel bearings, king pins, tyres and lighting were demonstrated.
The VI was delighted with the quality of the response and is planning further open days next year. Some one-day events are also planned at testing stations.
