Yuill & Dodds is a classic example of a company that's diversified beyond its long-standing core business in order to survive. As well as being a logical step, its diversification into waste haulage also allows the firm to leverage its existing and renowned core skills of bulk haulage. Having invested in ejectors and moving floor trailers at the right time, it has also forestalled possible Health & Safety issues that are making conventional tipping trailers an increasingly doubtful long-term bet on waste sites. It all looks like 'evolution' in action, but we'll leave it to Brian Yuill to deliver the moral: 'Ten years ago, there were 20 haulage companies in the area. Today there are five or six."
