FIRE ENGINE manufacturer Carmichael International is to fit Caterpillar engines in all its new vehieles.The deal follows successful trials of the first vehicle fitted with a Caterpillar engine,which iscurrently providing emergency back-up at Exeter airport.The fire tender from the Worcester-based manufacturer costs £360,000 (ex-VAT).

The 18-litre, straight six C18 engine, certified at 700hp and meeting Euro-3 standards, will now be fitted in fire tenders operating as far afield as Mauritius, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.
