POLICE ARE KEEN to locate a witness to a fatal road traffic accident that took place in Wiltshire on Thursday 30 October.The accident occurred on the A346. two miles south of Marlborough between Cadley and Postern Hill.

It is believed that a green 38/ 44-tonne curtainsider was at the head of a line of traffic travelling towards Marlborough when a red Vauxhall Astra moved to the truck's offside and collided with a southbound 7.5-tonner.The driver of the artic stopped at the scene and tried to help the Astra driver — a woman who subsequently died in hospital — but left before the emergency services arrived.

• Shropshire police are also trying to trace a truck driver who may have witnessed an accident on the A41 at Tong in which a woman was killed.

The 47-year-old from Surrey was driving a blue Nissan Primera when she collided head-on with a red Vauxhall Astra travelling in the opposite direction at around lpm on Sunday 2 November.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger. a teenage boy. was taken to hospital in Telford with serious injuries. The passenger in the Vauxhall. a 24-year-old woman from Shrewsbury, died later in hospital, and the driver was taken to Selly Oak Hospital. Birmingham with serious injuries.

A police spokesman says the force is anxious to trace the driver of a white box-bodied truck which is thought to have been in the line of traffic before being overtaken by the Nissan.
