TOYOTA HAS given its Hiace van a makeover. introducing six new models and upgrading the standard equipment.

ABS and driver's airbag are now standard across the range. The flagship GS-Xtra. which replaces the GLS, is available in 280 SWB and 300 LWB versions with an 88 or 100hp 2.5-litre D-4D engine. It also has a Sony radio/CD player and electric front windows. Further cost options include satnav and metallic paint.

The other newcomers include the 280 and 300 GS with tailgate and 100hp engine, but the lowvolume 2.7-litre petrol engine has been dropped. Toyota claims that price rises have been kept to a minimum, and the entry level 280 S starts at £11,785.
