SEEKING permission to initiate seven tours from Portpatrick, from Easter to September, R. Lawrie and Son, Stranraer, told the Scottish Traffic Commissioners, at Glasgow last week, that the application was designed to take over the tours previously operated by Mr. Thomas Black.

Mr. Robert Black, who was no relation of the previous operator, objected. He stated that for eight years he had operated tours from Portpatrick similar to those being requested. According to Mr. Black the past season had been poor.

Mr. W. F. Quin, chairman, commented: "Some day" we will get an operator who will come and tell us he has had a good season." He reserved decision.

POWER STEERING FOR ALBIONS

FIVE ranges of trucks produced by Albion Motors, Ltd., will now be available with power steering as an optional extra. They are the Chieftain C1-13A, Clydesdale CD21, Reiver RE25, Reiver RE27 and Caledonian 24C1 range.

Mantes 66I-type power steering gear with a Hobourn-Eaton pump on the engine will be available on Chieftain models. Marles 861-type gear with Hobourn-Eaton pump will be fitted to the other models.

B.R.S. TRY AGAIN

LI AV ING been refused six vehicles for a base at Barnstaple (The Commercied Molar, March 11 and 18), British Road Services have made a new application for four vehicles. The application will be heard at Exmouth on June 2. There are ll road objectors to the application. It is understood that the case was submitted to the road-rail negotiating committee, but no agreement could be reached.
