• Hauliers chasing money from E&C Transport and Forwarding have flooded CM'S hotline in response to an investigation into its elusive owners.

CM revealed that the firm, along with E&C Transport & Forwarding (UK) was sold by its director Matt Elliott to a Gibraltar-based software company called Ecomtech In January this year (CM6-12 Mar). But hauliers who carried out work for the firm up until the end of 2002 have still not received payment and are unable to contact Ecomtech.

And despite repeated telephone calls, CM has been unable to muster a response from the firm, which also has offices in Gleckheaton.

One Lincolnshire haulage boss says he refused to carry out any more work for E&C Transport and Forwarding when payment started to dry up. He eventually tracked down Elliott, but the amount owed has been disputed.

"I have tried to get in touch with Ecomtech but I can't gel through," he adds. "They don't seem to exist. The whole system is stacked against the person who is owed the money." He has now Invoiced MRS Services, a company Elliott is also director of, In the hope of getting the £1,700 he claims he is owed.

Matt Elliott and Mark Riby, both directors for MK. Services, were both unavailable for comment.
