Another new model making Its UK debut this year Is the Grafter from isuzu. Based on the NKR-S or NKR-T models this 3.5 tonne 4x2 rigid comes pre-bodied in aluminium or steel In tipper or dropside form and will feature a 3.0 litre turbocharged and Intercooled diesel engine rated at 130hp.

Three other vehicles will be shown on isuzu's stand including an NPR 7.5 tonne 4x2, fitted with a 4.8 Ittre 143hp turbo Intercooled four-cylinder diesel engine and belonging to Oxfordshire based Powwow Water—one of 40 PiQRs ordered by the firm this year.

Isuzu's 11.00 tonne CCW, 4x2 urban distribution tractive unit will also be making an appearance. Again fitted with the 4.8-litre engine, the unit on show belongs to Marks and Spencer—one of a fleet of six such vehicles operating with specially constructed Don-Bur trailers and used by M&S in its clothing distribution operation in and around the London area.

Launched In 2002, the NPR 5.0 tonne GVW 4x2 rigid, fitted with a 3.0-litre 130hp turbo intemooled fourcylinder diesel engine, will be seen on official show for the first time In the UK. Used for local distribution of food products, the vehicle at the NEC belongs to Welsh Pantry and Is fitted with a 14ft Lamberet refrigerated body and Carrier fridge. TH White/Palfinger's stand at this year's show will highlight a range of eight lorry loader models from a PC3300 to a PK52002, while a PK90002, the largest demountable unit In the UK, will be on show on Broshuis Trailers' stand. The company is also previewing the new low height 125 hook loader and an Epsilon E100 grab crane (pictured) fitted with a clamshell bucket.

Transmission torque

The 20013 and 3000 Series of transmissions will be demonstrated on Allison's stand at the show. The 2000 Series has been designed to provide more torque capacity for higherpowered diesels up to gross torque of 740Nm and gross power of 246kW. The 3000 Series will match engines up to 268kW input power and 1,627iint Input torque at speeds from 2,000-2,800rpm.

Driveline dreams

Driveline specialist ZF is showing the latest developments in its ZF-AS Tronic range of fully automatic transmissions for heavy duty trucks. A full range of synchromesh transmissions, including Ecosplit, Ecomid and Ecolite models, is also shown together with the latest generation of ZF's intarder endurance braking system.

Workshop wizard

A new vehicle maintenance software system is being announced at the show by Distinctive Systems. The software includes a defect recording system and a graphical bay planner for allocating scheduled and unscheduled activities into workshop, paintshop or cleaning bays. Other features include an optional purchase ledger and stock control module, and an optional sales ledger and invoicing module.

Crane collection

Atlas-Terex UK will be featuring its new generation of cranes—the .2 Series— Incorporating the Atlas crane management system (ACM). On show will be the 45kNm 45.2, the 85.2, the 95.2, the 105.2, the 120.2E and the 3500.2 grab loader
