PRIVATISED refuse collection with a difference started last Monday in Northampton, when a local specialist-operator set up in competition with the local council.
Collins of Northampton, a former coach operator which has switched to refuse collection, has launched a regular collection service for trade customers who are obliged to pay the borough council to collect from them.
The company has already offered to take over Northampton and Daventry's trade collection services ((CM, February 27), and has submitted a tender to take over the entire refuse collection service in Kettering.
