• A new radio-telephone service for companies using vehicles all over the North of England and Southern Scotland is to be operated by a Blaydon, Co. Durham company, it was announced this week.

The company, Radio Telephone Message Services Ltd, is to operate radio control rooms at strategic points throughout the region, to handle calls from the vehicles of subscribing companies.

Messages can be passed between vehicles and their companies through the control rooms, the companies contacting their nearest control by land line telephone. Mr J. Wallace Hayes, the company's managing director, said the service would cost companies a small instalment charge and about 35s a week.

The company is associated with the H. N. Storey Group of Companies, and is based at the group's headquarters in Fountain Lane, Blaydon.
