TIPPING bodies are shown by the firm of Bussing—one
which our report must show to be an exceedingly active: and enterprising concern—on two or three stands, threestage and four:stage rams tipping in three directions. The ram in each case telescopes to a net height of 13 ins. and is mounted oil a ball socket on a Cross-member of the frame of the chassis. The load line is kept low by such an arrangement. On each side of the chassis frame is a hinged frame or pillar with a gear drive to a pinion and rack. The elevating gear is hinged up when not in use and is clipped
to the side of the frame of the Vehiele. If it be desired to tip the load to the rear the beads of both racks are pinned to sockets an the body, and by means of winch handles the racks are lifted and the body raised. A Connection can be fitted from one rack gear across to the other, so that one man can operate both, but that sounds rather a hard )ob! When it is desired to tip to one side, the hinge pins on the body are inserted on the lower side and the rack on the other side of the chassis is alone used.
The 60 h.p. fire tender shown by Daag is unusually interesting. It seats 15 firemen in the forward section, and behind it is a light collapsable ladder and a number of hose reels. Towed behind is a trailer unit by G. A. Fischer, of Gorlitz, with a six-cylinder 45 h.p. motor capable of pumping 1,200 to 1,500 litres of water per minute to a height of 70 or 80 metres. Below the hose and ladder platform of the tender is carried a portable pump in a frame which can be handled by two men. This is designed as an -auxiliary puraP,
