/ May was another dismal month for truck manufacturers, with few signs of the recession ending in the latest CV sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Sales of trucks over 3,5 tonnes during the month were 2,539 — down from 4,022 in May 1990. Overall sales of CVs and PCVs fell 32% from 25,395 in May 1990 to 17,358.

The news was slightly better for the British manufacturers with the importers' share of the market falling from 39% in May 1990 to 37.5% last month.
