• Returnline, the new phonebased return-load network, has taken on more than 900 hauliers in its first week — although most of them are taking advantage of a free trial offer.
Members use telephones rather than computers to choose back loads from a list of nearly 5,000. The Manchester-based operation hopes to recruit 4,000 transport firms; it charges £365 a year and 50p a load.
