Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Portsmouth-based Clayton Removals will join the Brewer & Turnbull franchised network on 1 July.

Clayton has an operation in Paris, which will give the franchise network its first foreign base. "With many companies moving staff to and from France, and individuals buying houses in Normandy, the move is welcome," says James Whittle, the general manager at Brewer & Turnbull.

Clayton is the first addition to the network for 12 months; despite the recession only one franchise-holder has dropped out, says Whittle.

The network currently has four gaps — in Oxford, Milton Keynes, Derby and Nottingham — but Whittle does not expect to find removals firms rushing to join. "If you've got £10,000 to spend, you probably wouldn't invest in the removals business at the moment. You'd get a double glazing or damp-proofing franchise," he says.
