Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAGIRUS Deutz (Great Britain) Ltd has now sent a further specification for a 38-tonne tractive unit to the National Freight Corporation in connection with the NFC's survey of the market, reported in CM on May 16. This is because the 229kW (307bhp) version, the 310 D 19FS, will be available from the autumn, but was not for sale in the UK when the original specification was submitted.

On the 332 0 16FS 38-tonne unit originally specified, the GV80 splitter gearbox is now standard, so maximum road speed becomes 96kph (60mph) instead of the 89kph (55.1mph) originally listed. With the 170kW (228.5bhp) engine the power/weight ratio at 38 tonnes is 6.01bhp per tonne.

In its orliginal specification for the NFC, Magirus Deutz underquoted the total brake lining area for the unit, which is, in fact, 4502sqcm (698sqin).
