Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Up to 19 tons of animal feeds, ranging in density from 35 to 38Ib cu.ft., can legally be carried within the 30 tens g.v.w. limit by a new Pengco Monocoque pneumatic-discharge body which has just been put into service by Thomas Bell and Sons (Corn Merchants) Ltd., of Brigg, Lincs. Manufactured of aluminium alloy by Peterborough Engineering Co. Ltd.., the body is 28ft long by 8ft lin. wide overall and has 5ft 3in, high sides. It is mounted on a tandem-axle M and G semi-trailer chassis and is provided with its own self-contained power pack so that the complete transporter can be coupled to any tractor of suitable weight rating without modification.

Currently, the transporter is hauled by a Volvo F86 unit. This, together with the trailer chassis and its body, was supplied by Messrs. John Hebb, Wootton, Lincs. Varying amounts of up to three different products can be carried in the body at a time because it is provided with two internal partitions which can be secured in two alternative positions by cam locks.

Slung between the trailer side-members and enclosed below and on all sides, the power pack comprises a Perkins 4.99 fourcylinder diesel engine driving a Godfrey X420 blower and hydraulic pump, the latter serving the Edbro twin-ram tipping gear and hydraulic motor driving the rotary seal.

Avon remould expansion

• An expansion of its remould tyre activities is planned by Avon Rubber Co. Ltd. on its industrial estate at Bridgend, 'Glam. The initial development will cover 70,000 sq. ft., extending to 100,000ft in the future.

The new factory will enable Avon to transfer the remoulding of truck tyres in September 1970 from its present limited location at Bradford on Avon and to satisfy a growing demand for remould radial heavy-vehicle tyres. To be leased from the Welsh Industrial Estates Corporation, the plant will receive a substantial grant from the BoT towards the cost of equipment.

Cam Gears extends

• Two of the four factories operated by Cam Gears—those at Resolven, S. Wales, and Clevedon. Somerset—are to be expanded and modernized to provide a substantial increase in the production of rack and pinion steering gears and ancillary equipment.
