A TRUCK DRIVER who parked for just live minutes in a motorway service area to spend a penny has been fined £45.

Dennis Roberts. of St Helensbased Sutton Distribution, stopped in the area designated for coaches because it was close to the toilets. hada high-value load and was in there for five minutes." he says. -When I came out, the parking attendant had put a ticket on. I said I needed safe parking: he just shrugged."

The incident happened at Cherwell Valley services on the M40. where parking is controlled by CF Plus.

Roberts says another driver complained to the attendant at the same time, after receiving a parking ticket for parking overnight without paying.

"Why did he get a ticket and not two Willi Betz lorries that hadn't paid either?" says Roberts.

Ian Langdon, operations director of CP Plus, says he is sorry Roberts incurred the fine, hut adds: -Had he parked in the place designated for lorries, he wouldn't have had a parking notice."

He says the Betz drivers did not need to buy a parking ticket because the company has an account with CF Plus.
