Ever wondered how your MP earns his daily bread? Or what he does for you as a truck operator? If so, the latest survey of Britain's Parliamentarians will come as a great disappointment. According to the political information company DeHavilland, road transport and congestion don't even make it into the top io of Westminster's "Most Topical Subjects in 20021 Depressingly, "railways" is up there at number three, after immigration and asylum (which at least affects international operators) and the NHS. The table listing transport preferences is equally worrying. Number one topic again is the railways (with 5,549 items) while "road and motor" topics came in a poor second of 2,964. And we bet few of those will have been directly related to HGVs. So what does that tell us about our MPs' commitment to an industry that moves over So% of Britain's freight? That they're all far too busy chasing a highly limited mode of transport while ignoring the people that deliver an economic miracle 365 days a year.
