Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Every sector of the commercial vehicle market got off to a flying start to 2003, according to the January registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Overall registrations were up 11.3%, with the heavy end of the market (7.5 tonnes and above) up 10.5%. In this sector, every major manufacturer with the exception of lveco showed increased sales compared with January 2002. Iveco's sales were down 7%, but were helped by a handful of extra Seddon Atkinson registrations. Best performer among the heavies was the MAN group, up 21.5%, again assisted by increased sales of its UK badge, ERF.

The biggest rise was in the van sector from 1,880-3,500kg, up 18.0%. Star performer was Vauxhall, which gave a vastly improved performance on both sides of the 1,800kg mark to end up an impressive 116.1% higher overall.

Both Ford and Citron saw improved sales above 1,800kg bailing out reduced performances at the lower weight, ending up with slight gains overall.
