Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UP to 30 per cent savings in vehicle downtime is claimed by ICI through the use of Polyurethane 383, a one-pack refinishing system.

The paint is recoatable and resistant to tape markings after 4-6 hours drying time, has a rapid dust-free time of up to 90min and is tack free within 2 hours. Despite these quick times the paint will absorb its own overspray for a period of between 25 and 30min to ensure a consistent finish.

The system consists of two types of primer/ undercoats and final colour and is obviously going to produce bigger downtime savings on finishes with two (duotone) or more colour applications.

Transport Primecoat is formulated for fast processing from the bare metal and is suitable for original finishing either for the whole vehicle or individual panels. It has acid etch qualities and can be applied over sanded and works primer or old finish.

Non-Sand Undercoat P545 is for fast undercoating over prepared steel, aluminium or grp. It has greater scratch-filling properties than the Primecoat and is considered better suited to maintenance finishing, though it can be used for initial refinishing.

Both Transport Primecoat and Non-Sand Undercoat can be recoated with colour after 1 hour and 2 hours respectively and no flatting is required.

Polyurethane 383 may be either hot or cold sprayed or brush applied, though for the latter a groundcoat may be required. It is claimed that the paint finish is dirt shedding and that 383 is the first transport finish to be offered with a user mixing scheme to produce any colour required.
